Zadar Airport

Zadar may be a less popular option than say Dubrovnik or Split but you can rest assured you won't be disappointed by a visit here. The city is located on the north Dalmatian coast with many hundreds of islands fringing the shoreline. Well served by Zadar Airport, located just a short distance from the city centre, Zadar is a fabulous part of Croatia to visit.

Brimming with history and with wonderful natural attractions in arms reach, a hire car is well worth considering to get the very best from your holiday in the area.

What is there to see and do in Zadar?

Set about exploring the delights of Zadar and walk through the narrow and winding marble streets! There is plenty to see on your wanderings, but particularly the many Romanesque churches for which Zadar is famous.

Be sure to go and see the Sea Organ too, which consists of a host of channels and tubes leading from steps back into a resonating cavity. The musical sounds generated by this are certainly unforgettable.

What day trips can I make from Zadar Airport?

Why not journey along the Dalmatian coast to Sibenik using your rental car? Not only will get to see more of this beautiful country but the city itself has plenty to see including the UNESCO listed Cathedral of St James. Krka National Park is also close by and definitely worth exploring!

If you want to travel a little further afield, Rijeka is the perfect place to visit. Indulge in some retail therapy or stop by the National Theatre.

Split is an unmissable part of any trip to Croatia. Spend some time in Diocletian's Palace and enjoy the cathedral and various boutiques dotted within the city walls. The journey takes well under two hours by car but we recommend an overnight trip to really get the best from your time there.

Last but not least, ensure you include the Plitvice Lakes National Park in your plans. Zadar is the ideal base from which to visit due to the proximity and you certainly won't regret your trip here. Gorgeous waterfalls, lakes and caves define this natural oasis and the beauty is difficult to surpass.

"It was easy to see what was and what was not included in the price. Query regarding border crossing was dealt with promptly. I was a bit wary of having to deal with a local company at the airport but need not have worried - the local rep was friendly and efficient and spoke very good English."

John Rawcliffe
