With so much to see and do across the island, hiring a car is the best way to explore Tenerife.
Tenerife is definitely one of the most popular of the Canary Islands. It's not really a surprise as to why; combining natural beauty with family attractions and excellent nightlife for a younger crowd, it caters to all tastes. From towering mountains to lush forests and miles of beaches it makes a beautiful destination for a holiday year round.
If you're visiting Tenerife, make sure that you hire a car. It will allow you to get the best experience of the island traversing the nooks and crannies that you just can't access with public transport.
An island of volcanic descent, you won't be able to miss the inspiring peak of Mount Teide. It's the third largest volcano in the world and the highest point in Spain, including the entire mainland. Even the journey toward this giant is wonderful and once you reach the top, the never ending views will take your breath away.
Visit Los Gigantes, also referred to as the cliffs of the giants. Look in awe at the remarkable sheer cliff faces at a height of 800m in places. The journey should take around 45 minutes by car; why not take a boat trip out to view them in their entirety.
Los Cristianos is another exciting area to visit. There's plenty of hustle and bustle with a busy beach and plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs yet once a fishing village, it still retains its traditional charm. Siam Park is a really fun attraction to enjoy here with wave machines, flumes, a 100ft high slide an aquarium. The neighbouring resort of Playa de las Americas is much busier and more commercial but still worth a visit.
Why not visit the island's capital Santa Cruz, surrounded by the beautiful Anaga Mountains it's a bustling port city perfect for shopping. You can easily do the journey in well under an hour.
One of the most popular attractions in Tenerife is undoubtedly the Teide National Park in the centre of the island, the home to the largest mountain in the whole of Spain. You can reach the summit of the volcano by cable car with stunning views awaiting you.
Journey to the north of the island and spend a day visiting the town of Garachico. The streets here are speckled with tapas bars and traditional buildings giving it a distinct Spanish feel. The nearby lava rock pools add another enjoyable to trip here!
The IATA code for Tenerife South Airport is TFS.

"The member of staff in your office that I spoke to about driving licence details I think Sally was excellent to deal with. A point on the full insurance cover it was not included, I still had to pay you an additional £17 to have no liability. Also the Hertz rep then tried to sell me additional cover at the cost of 96 euro which I declined. I will be checking your rates again for a car hire for Portugal in August"

"Straightforward and efficient. Staff at Orlando were very helpful. One point- let customers know how to find company rep at airport. My only other thought would be tank of fuel included in price."
