Stuck Abroad?

Always extend your booking directly with us and not with the car rental company. The volcanic ash situation has forced many customers to extend their hire. While many have contacted us to do this, some haven’t and have been subsequently charged at a much higher rate by the supplier.

We always recommend that customers extend the rental duration with us, as the additional hire period will be charged at the same rate, saving you money. Our friendly reservations team can then ensure that top up insurance is also amended, guaranteeing full protection for the whole of the hire period.

When You Book, Take Cancellation Protection!

Cancellation Protection is available to purchase at the time of booking your car hire. If this has been purchased, a full refund (less the charge for Cancellation Protection) will be given. For as little as £2.50, you can protect yourself against the risk of losing up to 50% of the rental value if you have to cancel at the last minute.

The Icelandic volcano is still active so there is a real risk this could affect anyone due to travel soon. Make sure you purchase cancellation protection when you book your car hire with Economy Car Hire!

Get Travel Insurance With Full Cover!

Many travel insurance companies are refusing to pay up following the last disruption caused by Volcanic Ash. We recommend Direct Travel Insurance, who provide full cover in the event of travel delays, missed departure and abandonment.

Valid claims are being paid for those either stranded abroad, or who cannot travel due to the Volcanic Ash. We would encourage our customers to check that their existing policy covers such situations.
