The true cost of paying on arrival!
Beware of car hire websites that advertise false prices. Our survey found that rates of up to 1.49 Euros to the Pound are being quoted on some car hire websites. The current exchange rate is around 1.31, which means you could end up paying a lot more for your car hire than you expect.
Payment is usually taken in Euros on arrival, so when you add to this the usual 2.75% commission when using your credit or debit card abroad, you could end up paying as much as 16% more than the original price quoted. Hopefully this shows the benefit of paying in advance for your car hire.
