Confused by car hire insurance excess?
The insurance excess is the maximum amount that you will be liable for if there is damage to your vehicle during the hire. Complicated terms and conditions leave most people puzzled or put off trying to research it. Despite the need to make it easier to understand there are some companies who do not even confirm what the maximum amount is until the customer arrives to collect their vehicle! If an excess applies you may have to pay anything up to 2,500 Euros in the event of damage, so it is worthwhile spending some time checking the terms and conditions to find out what this could be. In our comparison (see below) we found that the majority of car hire companies have an insurance excess so it can be difficult to avoid. Additional insurance cover is often available at an extra charge to reduce or remove the excess amount. Top-Up Insurance
In addition to our new Cancellation Protection product we also offer top-up insurance, which provides refundable coverage for loss or damage to wheels, tyres, glass parts and the underbody of the vehicle. These items are not normally covered by car rental insurance. The top-up insurance can only be purchased when booking car hire online.
