If you are new to skiing and have decided that you are ready for a skiing holiday, Romania could be the ideal location. Romania is a country with a beautiful scenic backdrop and a good sprinkling of culture that offers fantastic trails suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. Azuga is one of the newer ski resorts in Romania and can be found in the Baiului Mountains, specifically in the Prehova Valley region. The season here usually runs from early December until March but does vary dependent on snow levels. The resort has a summit elevation of 8,150ft and base elevation of 3,642ft with a total of 5 lifts and is also home to the longest run in Romania which is called Sorica.

Busteni offers some of the most challenging skiing in Romania and offers 6 individual pistes served by a total of 12 lifts. The elevation is 8,215ft with a vertical drop of 5,164f and terrain suitable for all abilities. There is a mixture of downhill runs and cross country trails. 30% of the terrain is suitable for beginners and another 30% is suitable for intermediate skiers. The remaining 40% is reserved for advanced skiers.

Paltinis was found in 1894 meaning it was the first Romanian ski resort and it also boasts the highest elevation in the country at 5,515ft with a base elevation of 4,272ft. You are able to enjoy 140 acres of skiable snow which is served by 3 lifts. The terrain here features plenty of relatively easy runs which means it is a great resort for young families or anyone who is new to skiing.

Poiana Brasov resort is permanently open and not only benefits from around 120 days of snow per year but also 9 ski slopes. The runs are ideally suited for beginners and intermediate skiers who are looking to improve. The base elevation is 3,379ft and the summit elevation is 5,902ft with a vertical drop of 2,523ft. Visitors will benefit from 8 lifts and 12 runs, the longest of which is 4.6km.
