Choose a fair fuel policy across all locations in Portugal.
Economy Car Hire works with a whole host of trusted car hire suppliers in Portugal. All of our rates include:
Rest assured that whichever car hire supplier you book with, a fair fuel policy is available, meaning that you do not have to worry about unused fuel when you return the hire vehicle.
We constantly monitor the feedback that we receive from our customers, including that from our customer survey which is sent out to all customers when a rental has finished. This allows us to reward good service and pick up on any issues that may need resolving, ensuring that we can continually offer great service to our customers.
In Portugal, especially when visiting the Algarve or Lisbon you may need to use a toll road during your travels. Some of the car hire suppliers that we work with can provide you with a transponder for an additional charge payable locally. When you get a quote, click on the Show Rental Conditions link found underneath each vehicle. If you can see a section marked Motorway Tolls, a transponder is available and the applicable fees will be stated here.
Otherwise, you will need to visit a local Post Office or supermarket where credit can be purchased for use of the toll roads. Payment can be made 48 hours after use of the toll road, so you can pay the fee for your arrival journey but upon your return, you must wait for the bill to arrive from Portugal before settling the balance.
The gateway to the Algarve, Faro Airport is the most popular airport in Portugal and as a consequence, the busiest. Travel to the west to enjoy the Algarve or to the east, close to the border of Spain where a combination of golf courses, stunning beaches and wondrous scenery are accessible in large quantities.
Lisbon Airport is often used by those wishing to explore the city limits of Lisbon itself or further afield with a hire car. This coastal city is surrounded by beaches both to the north and south and again has many golf courses littered throughout the area.
Should you intend to explore the north of Portugal, Porto Airport will no doubt be most suited to you. Gems such as the Douro valley to the south of the city are well worth a trip, along with sampling some Port of course.
There are of course a number of islands close to Portugal such as Madeira, Porto Santo and Sao Miguel of the Azores islands. We do also offer car hire from Funchal Airport, Porto Santo Airport and Ponta Delgada Airport should you want to holiday here.
Many tourists are attracted to Portugal by the variety of golf courses available. Widely accepted as one of best courses in Portugal, Monte Rei is actually found in Tavira. This plush resort has endless charm and a hilly backdrop to boot. San Lorenzo on the other hand is a well-known favourite among golfers on the Algarve.
If you crave some sunshine, travel to the beach using car hire in Portugal. Those at Estoril near Lisbon, the wondrous sands of the Costa Verde near Porto and the tranquil Praia da Rocha on the Algarve should give you that welcome dose of vitamin D.
Locate Torre de Belem in Lisbon with your hire car from Portugal. Found on the banks of the Tagus River, marvel at the architecture here and discover more about its history as a fortress.
Drive through the Côa Valley Archaeological Park and explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site in more detail by arranging a rental car in Portugal. Fine examples of rock carvings situated here from the Palaeolithic period are truly fascinating also.
