Curral Das Freiras is located almost dead centre of the island in a valley where it has shear mountain edges on either side. The valley is commonly known as “Nuns Valley”. Once a year they have a chestnut festival due to an excess of chestnuts that they have, these are used in wines, cakes and soups. You name it and they have made it with chestnuts.
