It is thought that skiing is the second most popular outdoor pursuit in Hungary behind football, but due to the relatively flat terrain, most Hungarians travel to nearby countries to get their fill of the slopes. That doesn’t mean skiing in Hungary isn’t possible though. There are in fact around 30 slopes to choose from but they are large hills rather than mountains and the possibility of skiing down them very much depends on how much and how recently it snowed. With that in mind, Hungary is probably best left for ski-a-holics. If that’s you and you are lucky enough that it snows during your time in Hungary, then there are a few resorts which are definitely worth visiting.
