Ryanair to Cut Flights From Stansted Airport
1st March 2013Ryanair is set to reduce the traffic to London Stansted Airport by 9% in the next 12 months.
This is in response to Heathrow Airport Holdings (formerly BAA) increasing fees at Stansted Airport by 6%. Because of this, passengers numbers will fall by 1.1 million to 11.4 million. This change will affect approximately 43 routes, thus resulting in a reduction of 170 flights.
Before this price increase was announced, Ryanair had been planning to actually increase traffic to and from Stansted Airport by 5%.
The £1.5 billion sale of Stansted Airport to Manchester Airports Group has been completed recently and this price rise is still being actioned despite this.
